Details of the 43 Green development were revealed in a town hall meeting at the end of 2019 followed by a site walk through with Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton.

Town Hall Meeting

The multi-phase project plan for the 43 Green development was unveiled at a town hall meeting in November of last year. Members of the Bronzeville community were privy to the details of the first phase of development which will include 91 apartments and 6,500 square feet of mixed-use retail space.

The goal of the new development is to retain young professionals from the neighborhood who are often attracted to other communities because of lack of current amenities and options in Bronzeville. Coupled with the transportation proximity, the 43 Green development will also provide local business owners the perfect store location with plenty of commuter and residential foot traffic.

Site Walk Through

Steps away from the 43rd green line stop, the site is located on the south side of 43rd and Calumet Avenue. Phillip Beckham III, principal at P3 Markets, had the privilege to walk through the future site with Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton.

The 43 Green development benefits from the city’s recently approved expansion of TOD (transit-oriented developments) which will permit P3 Markets and partner Habitat to build the affordable housing complex in currently empty city lots close to the green line.

“The recent expansion of TOD is a huge win for the Bronzeville community. Now the community I’m from will see the same development benefits as the North side has seen in recent years,” said  Beckham.

Future residents can expect a short commute with close proximity to retail stores. Other transit benefits will include an available 22 parking spaces.

Impact

P3’s mission has always been to revitalize under-developed neighborhoods with the cooperation of private and public partnerships. The city’s expansion of TOD and government support of affordable housing for the project will lead to more opportunities for local businesses and residents.

P3 is aiming to break ground in 2022 and continue to foster additional relationships to ensure a successful project completion. If you’d like to partner with P3 on 43 Green or are interested in retail space please contact us today.
